Staff
Daniel Goff, Psy. D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He works with children, teens, families, couples and individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addictions, affairs and anger problems. He also specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adults with AD/HD, Sensory Integration Disorder, and Bi-polar Disorder. He holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He is called upon by local schools to help address troublesome and potential threatening situations involving students. He also works closely with his church in equipping leaders, teaching premarital workshops, guiding children and teens and plays guitar in the band. He is married with three children (two of them with AD/HD).
Brad Olson, Psy.D.,M.Div., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Brad specializes in the assessment & treatment of childhood, adolescent and adult AD/HD (providing evaluations, consultations, and counseling), depression, marital therapy, addictions, career & vocational issues, and child play therapy. Before joining our staff, he served as Director of counseling for a youth organization and brings particular skill, training and experience to his work with teens and young adults. He completed his Psychological Doctorate (Psy.D.) from Forest Institute for Professional Psychology (in Clinical Psychology). He has completed a Master of Arts degree in psychology and Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in pastoral counseling from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN. His experience also includes individual counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychological testing, and premarital counseling. Brad has been a frequent speaker for community, educational and church organizations.
Steven Hines, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Prior to joining The Arlington Center, he was the Director of Counseling at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. He has years of experience doing therapy with adults, couples, adolescents, and groups. Steven works with a wide range of clients using a variety of tools such as EMDR and equine assisted therapy. He leads groups for recovering sex addicts, does team community building, and consults with businesses and church staffs. Steven is married and has three children.
Jan Paul Hook, Ed.D., is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). He has his doctorate in Educational Psychology and Counseling from Northern Illinois University and master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University. Jan is a clinical member and clinical supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Jan’s area of expertise includes individual, group, and marital counseling. Prior to coming to The Arlington Center, he was the director of the Marital Restoration workshop, and Faithful & True Ministries for men and women (persons struggling with sexual addictions) at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington. Jan also worked for years as the director of the counseling center at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. His expertise also includes counseling with men struggling with sex addiction. He and his colleague, Steven Hines lead four men’s groups here at The Arlington Center. Jan is also an adjunct professor at Trinity International University. He teaches Human Sexuality and Career Counseling at the graduate school. He also serves with The Crucible Project, a ministry of men’s weekend retreats. He is available as a speaker and trainer on various issues including sexuality and men’s issues. He is married with one child.
Kerry DeVries, M.A., is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She graduated from Taylor University with a B.A. in psychology and completed her graduate work at Ball State University with an M.A. in counseling and social psychology. Prior to coming to The Arlington Center, she worked with behavior disordered and learning disabled children in multiple treatment settings, including day treatment-therapeutic day school settings. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in the treatment of AD/HD, anxiety and phobia disorders, eating disorders, and depression. She has experience running parent training groups for parents of AD/HD and Oppositional Defiant Disordered children. Kerry has an interest in working with women who struggle with infertility issues. She is also an EMDR-certified therapist.
Melissa Chaffer, M.A., is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She enjoys working with church staff, teens and adults to improve leadership skills, personal relationships and business performance. Currently, she is a Response Pastor at Willow Creek Community Church and serves in RESTORE, a workshop that helps couples whose marriages are in a hard season. Prior to The Arlington Center, she worked at a local evangelical church as Director of Counseling, and in an in-patient psychiatric hospital, leading family groups and working with adolescents. She specializes in the emotional effects of medical conditions, relationship issues, depression and anxiety.She graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Child Development, Family Living & Gerontology, and holds a Masters degree in Community Counseling from Roosevelt University. Jerome Iverson, M.A., is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). A graduate of Seattle Pacific University, he holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University. He is a former Associate Dean and Counseling Center therapist at Trinity also. Prior to coming to The Arlington Center, he established and worked for years at his own private practice in the northwest suburbs. He has experience in premarital, marital, individual, and group counseling. Jerome has done extensive mission consulting with the rehabilitation of teams and individuals returning from various international mission fields. His consulting expertise also includes working with churches and pastors, addressing issues of governance and staff discipline. He is married with two children. Ryan Bettger, M.A., is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) . He graduated from Denver Seminary with a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health. His undergraduate degree is from Bethel University (B.A. in Theology). He has experience in premarital, marital, individual, and group therapy. He specializes in the treatment of marital and relationship problems, depression, anxiety, and emotional difficulties, sex addiction and substance abuse, AD/HD coping skills, abuse/neglect, and spiritual issues. He co-leads groups for men recovering from sexual addictions. He is experienced in working with children, teens, and adults. Ryan is married with two children. He is passionate about truth and its capacity to enable freedom. He is passionate about the impact increased personal awareness, acceptance, and vulnerability can have on relational intimacy. He has a passion for exploration and adventure. He frequents the BWCA wilderness of Minnesota during all seasons of the year and has climbed 7 fourteen thousand foot mountains (14ers). Lauren Shaw, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her BA from Huntington University (Psychology and Oral Communications) and completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She works with individuals, couples, and families and has experience with children, adolescents, and adults. She has previously worked at a university counseling center and a faith based non-profit mental health center. Her areas of special interest include adoption, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship and interpersonal issues. Lauren is married and has three children.
Jacob Hines, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, completing his Psychological Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. He received his B.A. from Western Illinois University (Psychology and Business Management). Jacob is experienced in providing therapy for adults, adolescents, children, families, and groups. He specializes in sexual addictions and co-leads groups for men recovering from sexual addictions. He also speicalizes in psychological testing and assessments, including evaluations for academic and learning issues, and AD/HD. He has spent time working at an inpatient center for individuals struggling with addictions, and most recently worked at an alternative school with children and adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, and issues related to AD/HD and autism.

Shannon Linsley, Psy.D., is a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She received her B.A. from Northern Illinois University (Psychology), an M.A. and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. Shannon has experience doing therapy with adults, couples, emerging adulthood, adolescents, families, and groups. She specializes in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating issues, substance abuse, and relational concerns. She also enjoys helping individuals with career development and vocational-related concerns. She has spent time working with church staff, ministries, and non-profit organizations and has run workshops related to compassion fatigue, burnout, and stress management. Shannon also works with college students and individuals experiencing major life transitions and adjustments.

Laura Kamptner, M.A., is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Laura completed her graduate work with honors at Trinity International University with an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. Laura also holds a Certificate in Trauma Training from The Allender Center at The Seattle School. Prior to joining The Arlington Center, Laura served as a volunteer counselor at Willow Creek Community Church and as an Intern Counselor at the Trinity Counseling Center. Laura has a heart for people in all walks of their journey and especially for those navigating a life crisis. Laura works with adults, couples and adolescents. Laura has a passion for college students and young adults who are experiencing significant life decisions and transitions. Her areas of special interest include anxiety, depression, women's issues, relational difficulties, stress/wellness, life transitions, grief and loss. Laura is married with two teenagers.

Please Note: Dr. Dickie Kay is an independent consulting psychiatrist for The Arlington Center. He sees clients in our office two mornings a week. The remainder of the time he works with patients at his private practice (“North Park Clinic” northparkclinic.com ) in Park Ridge, IL.
